Working for Veterans in NWI and beyond

"To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan by serving and honoring the men and women who are America's Veterans.” - Abraham Lincoln.

Mission

South Shore Friends of Veterans (SSFoV) provides immediate assistance to Veterans and Veteran families as they navigate daily challenges. Our relationships with Veteran experts and credible Veteran service organizations provide the necessary tools for the continued success of our American Heroes. SSFoV raises funds to provide grants to not-for-profit organizations who serve our Veterans' needs.

Part of helping Veterans is serving their families and the dedication to “not forgetting.” SSFoV will assist in memorial events that allow communities to come together and remember our Fallen Heroes.

History of SSFoV

Our desire to help Veterans and Veteran families began in 2011 when a group of golfers joined forces to fundraise for Folds of Honor. Donations have reached $225,000 to date. Over time, this team established additional events to assist the many Veteran organizations in Northwest Indiana.

In 2019, the South Shore Friends of Veterans Fund was set up with the Porter County Community Foundation. This fund supports the aspects of our mission. Grants are provided from this fund that directly benefit local Veteran needs.
